Eyes

If my eyes were planets
one would be mars
and venus would be the other
dry red desert, scarred
or volcanic, atmospheric sulfur

If my eyes could catch and kill
a venus flytrap would know the thrill
but my eyes are dry like mars
catch and kill, it never will

My eyes were the lost well
surrendered to the darkness of the night
open but never found
reflecting the shadowed moonlight
